How Far a US Social Security Check Goes Worldwide
Every country Americans move to, ranked by what the same Social Security check actually buys there. World Bank price levels, one spreadsheet.
A dollar doesn't buy the same life everywhere. This spreadsheet shows how much more, or less, the same money buys in each country Americans actually move to, with the United States set at 1.000.
Method: the World Bank's private-consumption PPP conversion factor divided by the market exchange rate, 2024. For European countries the figures sit within a few percent of the Eurostat-OECD price level indices.
What it doesn't measure: the price of a national basket leaves out private health insurance, international schools and the premium foreigners pay in the first months. Treat it as the floor of your budget, not the budget.
